what is Tax about? Is tax a good thing or bad thing?


what is tax actually? Taxes is a sum of money demanded by a government for its support like health service, education, public buildings...etc. Taxes in Canada have three different kinds of taxes, which is Good and service Tax, harmonizing sales tax and provincial sales tax. The combination of GST and PST had a result in HST. GST is the 5% on most Canadian goods and services. HST is the 13% on most canadian goods and services. (in all provinces of Canada beside Nove Scotia (15%) and B.C. (12%)).

Pros of taxes
Taxes would able to hire employees and support the social programs. Taxes provide citizen to have a better living envoirment and education. Money from taxes support the water systems, public transportation, roads and suppoort the military etc. Its provide money to government to run.

Cons of taxes
Taxes make the price of product more and more expensive.  it usually causes a decrease in the total economic demand. Another disadvantage of taxing is the misuse of resources. Some resources might not be distributed to the right place or used to their best extent.

Overall, i think that is reasonable to pay taxes for government.

    I see your point of view. But, like you said, one disadvantage of taxing is the misuse of resources. If the government is using even 1% of our tax money for improper use, then I don't think it's worth paying.

      i get what you mean, but without tax at all we wouldn't have free health care for those that cant afford.

    I am not sure about other countries but i think in Canada we are doing pretty good. I think every country should follow same rules.
    Only people who have a good amount of payments and people who are rich enough to give money should pay taxes. But people who don't even have any money to spend on food should not give tax. Like today in Canada if you cant pay taxes you can tell the Government they will surely help you , so i kinda agree from your idea.

    i agreed what you said about every countries should follow the same rules, but i totally disagree about the thing that you said people who have good amount of payments and people who are rich enough to give money should pay taxes. but people who don't even have any money to spend on food SHOULD NOT give taxes. because in this community, everyone should do something for the community. even though they don't have money to spend on food they still need to pay because what they use is all paid from the government (everyone's taxes).
