Human Footprint

What is a human Footprint?

A Human Footprint is not actually a footprint, it's an ecological impact of a person's life. Like, how much money they spend on certain things, what food they eat e.t.c, and how's its impacting the world.

Your Human Footprint
People can go their whole lives without knowing how they're impacting world. I mean, how much energy do I use? Should I buy organic food that is more expensive? Those are pretty ordinary questions but a much bigger question is how is it affecting me? How is it affecting the world? You can answer all of those questions here http://www.earthday.org/footprint-calculator.

My Human Footprint
This is my human footprint. As you can see My footprint is pretty large compared to the average Canadian. I spend most my money/energy on services and shelter. To reduce my footprint size or yours, start being careful about what you do. For example start reducing your household energy ex) turn off lights in rooms, use energy efficient light bulbs/appliances, turn off your computer/ electronic devices.
Next, is transportation, try using public transit or carpool with friends.
And last is your local food, of course pre-packaged food is bad for you and the environment, try going to the local farmers market.

You might think this doesn't matter or it's dumb but it does matter, the little things you do, effects not only you but everyone. Find out what you're Human Footprint is and make a difference.
