Pollution

It's Not Just a Word
What do you think of when you hear "Pollution"? Is it just a word?
Unfortunately to some people, it is. But little do they know, there is A LOT of meaning to it. Pollution affects all of us. Each year 1.2 (1 200 000 000 000) trillion gallons of untreated sewage and wastes get dumped into water in the United States. Over 1 billion people lack access to drink clean water, that's one eighth of our worlds population, and 5 000 people die each day due to drinking dirty water. Not only does pollution affect our health, but our lifestyle too. Hazardous waste causes us to lose over 15 million acres of land, that's approximately 123 966 West Edmonton malls.

But pollution doesn't only affect us humans, animals are also extremely harmed by the issue. Every year over 1 million seabirds, 100 000 sea mammals  and countless fish die each year just from their habitats and drinking resources being highly intoxicated. Populations are decreasing in both human and animal life. The problem only keeps getting bigger, and there are predictions that some day we will run out of resources! Now y
ou tell me, is pollution still ‘just a word’?

  1. I agree with this blog, pollution needs to be stopped but how? With so many people in this world its hard to get everyone involved. Is there a program where people can go to help? I think people should find a way to not have to rely on cars, maybe walk more? I don't know, i just hope it will soon stop!
