One in two children in the world are in poverty. Over 10.6 million children died in 2003 before they were five. That's more then 29,000 children dying a day.
Almost half the world live on only $2.50 that's how much we spend on one bag of chips. Some of us don't realize exactly how bad poverty is in some places of the world but its so bad that one child dies every four seconds which means that around 21,000 children die a day. Poverty has a HUGE impact on hunger and starvation. In the U.S.A around 40 to 50% of crops ready to be harvested never get eaten, but in some parts of Africa a quarter or more of the crops go bad before they can be eaten. We can't stop hunger and Poverty but we can help. Its as easy as sending just a dollar a day and that can saves the lives of many people. Many of these people can not afford school for there children, so almost 1 Billion people in the 21st century cannot read a book or even sign there names. 41 of the poorest countries in the world combined (567million people) have less money then 7 of the worlds richest people combined. Less then one percent of what the world spent on weapons was needed to put every child into school by the year 2000 yet it never happened.
There are around 2.2 billion children in the world and according to unicef they say that over 1 billion are in poverty and around 2.2 million will die in the next year because of poverty and starvation. Poverty has made 640 million children without appropriate shelter and 400 million without safe water and only about 270 million with no health care. In only takes as little as a dollar or less a day to change one child's life forever and give them a good education and life in general. There are so many sponsor sites to use and they are all good and that can change poverty just one step at a time. :-)
