Who has made a difference in not only your life, but someone elses too?
For me it's my mom. She gave me life, I wouldn't be alive right now without her. She has given me a home, family, food and love. When I think about it there is so much my mom has done for me and my family but she didn't stop there. She is a registered nurse at the Children's Stollery Hospital. Everyday she goes to work she helps save someone's life who without the help of my mom and other nurses wouldn't make it or at least wouldn't know know that people are wasting their time to try and save them. My mom makes very important decisions that can lead to life or death. When I was 2 I got kidney failure, I had/have 2 damaged kidneys so the nurses at the hospital wanted to give me a kidney transplant. My mom refused because she new as a nurse that at such a young age you could die from it, she made the right decision I'm alright and healthy now, my mom didn't want to take a chance of me dying and she made the right choice. She gets attached to her patients and treats them like her own child. She cares and loves them like its her own kid lying there hurt, because she knows how it feels when your kid is in the hospital hurt and she tries her best to get them out of the hospital healthy. She shows those kids hope when they have no hope left. To me she makes more than a difference in mine, my families and hurt, injured patients in need of help.

Global Issue Awareness
Bullying
Bullying effects many people, in any grade. It is the use of a force to abuse or intimidate others. Bullying can be verbal harassment or threat, physical assault or coercion. It may be directed repeatedly towards particular victims, but if bullying is done by a group it is called mobbing. People can stop bullying by standing up, but people are generally afraid to because normally the fear is that the bully will come after you. That is not always the case, the bully may and if that happens someone needs to get involved like a parent or teacher, but the thing is bullies won't always go after the person who sticks up for the victim because they feel intimidated. Why not try. If you were the victim you would want help so help someone as if they were you.

Global Warming and Polar Bear
Polar bears are becoming extinct and we can help! Their population is decreasing dramatically. As global warming melts sea ice, the U.S. Geological Survey projects that two thirds of their population will disappear by the year 2050. The ice is freezing later in fall and and melting earlier in spring. That takes the time they have on the ice away by almost and month and a half. If they have no ice, they have to live on land and there's barely any food for them there. Their average weight has dropped down by 15%. The Hudson’s Bay population of polar bears has dropped down by more than 25%.
Not only that, but sea platforms are farther apart. That means that polar bears have to swim farther apart to get to their destination. The larger gaps of open water make harsher and bigger wave conditions causing more hazards for polar bears. A report shows that a female polar bear swam for nine days-nonstop-across the Beaufort Sea causing her her cub and 22% of her weight. Many of them are drowning because of how far they have to travel.
The shrinking polar bear ice cap is also decreasing their prey dramatically. It also affects their main source of food, seals. Their population and nutrition is decreasing too so polar bears are going hungry for longer periods of time, resulting in cannibalistic behavior. The polar bear’s future is still very much in jeopardy. I think we need to take immediate and significant action to reduce global warming pollution.
WHAT SHOULD WE DO?
Today's world especially youth plays a really important role in our society today. We should not only take care of our families we should also take care of our world.
I watched the video " Darfur" and i think that we should always think about the our family whenever we see a poor person dying and should think that what if our brother or sister would be dying because of hunger like that. Would we help them? or Would we let them die like that?
I think when helping someone we should not think that we know them or not we should think that is he/she from our family member. We should help them because that's what matters.
The video I watched " Darfur awareness video" is about war that took place in 2004 in Sudan. So many people were killed during and after the war, and so many others were homeless and were seperated from there parents. I think we should send money to the people aho are homeless or who are tryong to find there family memebers. And I would like you to watch the following video.
When Will We Learn?...
I've watched a video that has effected me a a lot. I feel like i'm so so so fortunate and lucky to have food on my plate while there's others all around the world that can't even find a drop of water to drink or a bed to lay on, or even a house for shelter. There's a problem here. We as a society don't notice how bad this situation is. But all we choose to do is blame our society. But we are society. Me and you. And every little thing can make a big difference but we choose not to. We choose to do something else instead. But i can't blame people because I do the same thing. But if we all pitch in together we can make a huge difference. Now this video shows how bad our situation is. It shows how bad people are in need for help. I really really think you should watch this video and it will really effect you. It's amazing how one little thing can help someone so much. Like a cup of water. It's simple for us but it'll make someone's life. Literally.

Human Footprint
I am very surprised by my results from my footprint test because I did not think that I was making less of an impact than the Canadian average. There are some areas I can improve on my services rating. I could buy more locally grow foods other than buying imported foods from outside the country like the plains of Madagascar. I could also not take as long showers and turn off the lights when I leave a room. I was very happy with my mobility rating though. I walk to school every day so that explains why my rating was so low there. Here is a Super Sexy Calculator for your human footprint.
Health Concerns
Have you imagined how kids deal with their health system in there country? Has health ever concerned you? Well it sure concerns this young man. Here are some facts that people deal with worldwide.
- 1 Billion people lack access to health care and hospitals.
- 36 million deaths each year are caused by noncommunicable diseases.
- Over 7.5 million children under the age of 5 die from malnutrition and mostly preventable diseases, each year.
- In 2008, some 6.7 million people died of infectious diseases alone
- Tuberculosis kills 1.7 million people each year, with 9.4 million new cases a year.
- Malaria causes some 225 million acute illnesses and over 780,000 deaths, annually.
- 164,000 people, mostly children under 5, died from measles in 2008 even though effective immunization costs less than 1 US dollars and has been available for more than 40 years.
Health issues are a very important topic in general life. Kids around the world don't have the right amount of health care. For example, Africa doesn't have a good health system due to the poor economy. They cant afford having health in their country making it impossible to stay healthy. Health is something that will stick with you for your whole life so make it right.
I'm proud of my country , Canada . Because we have the health care system in the whole world. I'm safe to say this because Canadian doctors react quickly to diseases and things that aren't good. Also Canadians are usually the first to find cures to things. For example Canada found a cure several diseases such as H1N1, also working on more things to cure. Canada always has medic attention before any other country. During the flu season Canada gives out free vaccines to help prevent the spread/disease. As much as they hurt health is a number one priority.
Keep in mind that you should be thankful for the health care in our country. Because like said in the facts, 1 billion people don't have access to a hospital or care.

HUMAN FOOTPRINT
I used a human footprint calculator and i found that it helps a lot by telling you about how much you use in the world. It helps us by telling us how much food we use, how much water we use and how much harm each of us is doing to the planet. And it also helps you to find out how can you help the environment by protecting it from harming. I used this calculator and found out how should i help my environment, and i would like you to use the same website and find out about yourself by going to the following website.
My Human Footprint.
My human footprint made me realize that as one person only i give our environment a huge impact of the stuff I do everyday! It made me realize that as one person I do a lot of things that affects our environment I can't imagine how much worse it is with a society. I feel like we can change a lot by doing the simplest things such as turning of your light when you leave your room or just even recycle. We can do many different things to help our environment but we choose not too. I myself take blame to. I never knew that our everyday life can affect the environment so so much!
Nuclear Weapons

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJe7fY-yowk&safety_mode=true&safe=active I believe that nuclear weapons should be allowed only for war or dealing with war because if the apposing enemy's know we have nukes they might not cause war cause they know we will solve it with nuclear bombs.
Inspirational people
Justin Bieber has defiantly made a huge difference in my life. He has taught me that it is
possible to make your dreams can true as long as you believe and never give up. At such a
young age, He's always had a dream of being a singer. Loved my millions his dreams came
true and is now one of the most famous people in the world. He's gone through so much hate.
Everyday he receives horrible tweets and rude comments. He over powers them and proves to them that he is worth for what he is. I will always be a Belieberfor many reasons. No matter how many times I get bullied for loving someone whose dreams came true, I will always think of him and continue of completing my dream of meeting my hero. Not only has he inspired me, But Justin inspired a very special girl named Avalanna Routh. A six year old Belieberwho was infected with brain cancer. She had the chance to meet Justin and he instantly fell in love with her. Justin did what ever he would do to make her happy as she only had three months to live. Every second, Every moment Justin was on her side making the best of the last. She was a very young and beautiful girl known as "Mrs.Bieber". September 6,2012 she passed away bringing many Beliebers in tears. Justin Drew Bieber was her biggest inspiration.
My seventeen year old sister also has an inspiration. Ever since grade seven she has had the love for Gordon Ramsay and cooking. She has had the privilege to meet her hero. Gordan has taught her that no matter how rude people can bring you down, you must never give up and just try harder to succeed in what you want. She will be graduating this year and talking culinary in college. I don't really know who he is but I just call him "My sisters inspiration".
Blogging #2 - Newspaper Consumption
Newspaper Consumption
How many newspapers do you or your family read in a week? The average family reads some sort of newspaper everyday of the week. Think about where you live, how many neighbors do you have? Now multiply that amount by 7, that is about how many booklets of paper are wasted every week. Those people will use approximately 28,301 newspapers in their lifetime. It may not seem like a huge problem because it’s our lifestyle, you get up, read the paper, then head to work, but this issue is more serious than you may think. Everyday the population of trees decrease dramatically, the main source is newspapers. In the United States, one years worth of newspapers uses 191,000,000 trees! This amount is crazy, that's forests and forests worth of trees! Those trees chopped down has caused animals homeless, some endangered, some dead, and an even more polluted environment for us. With the amount of trees getting chopped down, this results in 1000 more tons of carbon dioxide released into our air each day. By the time we are adults, our air will be extremely polluted if we keep this up, the average American uses 43 trees for a lifetime support of newspapers, and if you think of all the 8 billion people in our world, there is an unbelievable amount of trees used for newspapers, not to mention all the other paper we use! If you want to breathe healthy air when you grow up, start by using our neighbors/friends newspapers instead of getting our own, our read the newspaper online! If you want to find out how many trees you use go to

WHAT CAN WE DO TO HELP?
SO DEADLY... CAN WE HELP?
Natural disasters can be very, very deadly. There's nothing we can do about that. But we can help the people in action.
EXAMPLE: Tsunami.
Find out if your home is in danger.
If you feel a big earth quake. Be prepared for a big tsunami.
Evacuation plans: Pick an inland high evaluated piece of land. That's so the tsunami doesn't reach you.
After Tsunami:
Flash light
Portable Food Kit
First Aid Kit
Water
Essential Medicines
For all of these things to do... Could save your life. Going inland so the tsunami doesn't reach you.
Having the emergency kit could have you help/save people in need. WE HAVE MADE THESE LISTS TO SAVE LIVES.

1.
There is a huge need for money in-order to fund rescue efforts in order to find those who are still alive, or wounded
2. Buy Virtual Goods
3.Text Red Cross or Facebook and Twitter to donate to the Tsunami victims

Human footprint
My ecological footprint is: 4.7 global hectares. I challenge you to take the test so I know if I am on track or not. The Canadian average is 5.8 global hectares so I am not too far from the average but I need to to see other peoples results to see who is over the average and who is under the average. I am under the average because I don't spend much money on clothing or technology and I recycle most of my paper when I find out we don't need it. Myself I don't usually drive places I walk to where I want to. Sometime I even walk to the mall instead of walking.

My Human Footprint
My Life Statistics (The more interesting ones)
In my life I will have an average of 8 086 bananas. That's two a week. That's more then the U.S.A's and Japans averages though. There averages are only 5 067 and 3 888
I will drink about 40 430 cans of pop in my life! That's alot! Although it is not as high as the U.S.A.'s or U.K's it certainly is higher then Japans. There average is only a tiny amount of 5 333 in an average lifetime!
In my entire life I will have only around 56 758 slices of bread. That is a pretty small amount compared to the U.K's. In an average U.K's lifetime he/she will have 102 678 slices of bread. WOW!
After answering those questions on (Said website). I realized that just by having 5 067 bananas in your entire life. That's like eating 1 and 1/4 a week, or 28 pounds per year! A years supply for the entire U.S. would take up 894 miles.
Check out you foot print! Here

How much do you waste?
Our world has a limited supply of food and agriculture, but many people in countries such as Canada and America don't realize this. Did you know that a new study found that 40% of our food is left uneaten! (more food than ever is being wasted). The average family throws out about $2,275 worth of food per year? Did you also know that children in the Sub-Sahara Africa live on less than $1 a day?! If you didn't waste all the food you bought, you could feed 50 children every months for almost two years?!
Food isn't the limit! We waste things such as paper and other tree products such as wood (which takes 17 trees to make one package that you buy for your printer), water, and many other things. We are taking advantage of our resources and need to stop. If we keep consuming so much, and then wasting it, our children and grandchildren will live to see a day that has very limited food, water and natural resources. Go onto this website to see what you can do to limit your consumption and waste.

My current footprint is less than that of the average person in Calgary or Edmonton, but there is still lots I can do to improve my ecological footprint, and you can to! Some examples of the ways that I can reduce my footprint is by carpooling and purchasing goods that are made locally to reduce their transportation footprint. This is my ecological footprint result. If you would want to know yours go to the website below.
I used more than the Canadian Average. My goal is to start decreasing the electricity I use at home because I use quite a lot for watching television and playing video games.
My life statistics
Lifetime egg eaten: 20 215
Newspaper read: 4 043
Milk drank in a lifetime: 16 172
How many miles I drove: 67 616
Banana's eaten in a lifetime: 12 129
Cans of soda drank: 4 043
Showers taken: 36 387
Potatoes ate: 12 129
Diapers needed for a baby: 4 380
Bread ate: 2 190
It's really cool to know my lifetime average. Now I know the cans of soda I drank each week.

Air pollution video
This video is about the serious air pollution happening in China!
The video is talking about how much air pollution is in the air. Also it tells you how the Chinese citizens survive in Beijing china. I want you to watch this video because now you will think about how much air pollution you give off in our world, and if we keep on doing this we will have this same crises here in Canada.
Human Foot Print
My human foot print made me realize how much energy and our other needs go to waste, because of this society. I think even just turning off lights, recycling, carpooling and many other things are very helpful ways to even just start cleaning up our environment. We take a lot of steps in a day and we as individuals don't realize how much of an impact we make. I think the more we work together the more we will help our plant survive through global warming and other harmful things.
THE HUMAN FOOTPRINT
The ecological footprint is a measure of human demand on the Earth's ecosystems. The more a person uses gas in cars, electricity, hair products or anything of the sort it leaves a mark on the environment. Everyone has an ecological footprint but they may vary, some people have a big impact on the environment and some people have a very tiny impact on the environment.
There are many ways for people to make a smaller footprint in the environment and the community is starting to adapt by making electric cars and more ways to decrease the amount of waste we put in the ecosystem. Another way we can decrease are footprint is by using less harmful things even if not by much, altogether it will make a big impact on the environment. You can use half the hairspray you use or even run your car less than you used to.
One of the effects is global warming and the greenhouse effect. This is when a shield forms in the atmosphere that is made by all the waste and it keeps all the heat in the Earth and causes the Earth to heat up, and this can cause melting snow in the arctic, floods and many more bad affects. We can all work together and make the world a better place.

Ecological Foot Print
What is a Foot Print?
A footprint is the ecological impact a persons life has on this planet.
Here is my Ecological Foot Print on the right. As you you can see it its above the Canadian Average which is not that good of a thing. As you can see most of my consumption is from services such as government, healthcare, military etc. I also consume a lot of food to fulfill my human needs.
I think our footprints matter a lot and tell us on what to consume less so this planet can survive longer and our future generations can enjoy the life we are.

Human Footprint in The World
The Human Footprint
People on Earth are now using natural resources 50% faster than the Earth can replace them. Even with the modest UN projections for population growth, consumption change and climate, by 2030 humans will need the capacity of two Earths to absorb carbon dioxide and other wastes. We don't always know we are harming the Earth, but just by taking the elevator instead of the stairs, or driving in a truck or a car a lot, some people don't realize this, but the exhausted from cars is really harmful to our Earth and pollutes the air.
By clicking this link you can find out your footprint and how you can make it smaller. Also by clicking this other link you can find out your outcomes for all the resources you might use in a lifetime and you can also see how to reduce those too. Find out how you can help and save our world today.

My Human Footprint
A Human Footprint is the ecological impact of a humans life on Earth.
It can be determined by taking online tests, examples of the questions they ask are "How much electricity do you use per month?" and "How much of the food you eat is processed?".
I took the test at http://www.earthday.org/footprint-calculator . It determined that my ecological foot print was 7.1 Global hectares. A Global hectare is a measurnment of biocapacity of the entire earth. The average person in Calgary is 8.6, the average person in canada is 5.8 .
I think the reason my footprint is so big is because I rarely walk to places and I usually get a ride. I also use a lot of electricity while watching television or charging my iPod, because we are so far north, the amout of energy we use to heat our houses is higher because the tempurature is so cold. The cost to transport fresh fruit and vegtables is higher because we cant grow them here in the winter time.
I could use less electricity and walk more places or ride my bike to reduce my human footprint. Also I could reduce the amount of waste I produce and recycle.
My goal is to reduce my ecological footprint. I intend to do this by riding my bike to school when it warms up. I can walk to school now. I will always turn off the lights after my self to save electricity and I will have shorter showers thus reducing the energy I use.

If I Could Change The World
I watch the video "Darfur", I think that the video tries to tell us that we should help the people in Darfur. As you see, there are many issues they need to face along with the issue of how they are going to survive the rest of their lives without support. When your life is at risk, you will realize how much pain the people in Darfur have felt. We should help them and be the ones who can change their life.
This is what i found in YouTube LINK
This video is mostly about whats going on in the world today, and what global issues we need are faced with? who has the power to fix these issue? what can we do to help to save this world? why do we care about this world? this video lists many issues we are faced with today, and reasons why we need to care. We can also be apart of saving the world and try to solve all the issue in this world.
Human Footprint
When I use the human footprint calculator i think it helps in a big way because it shows how much we are harming are planet. The calculator because good to because it shows how much food we eat, are shelter, mobility, and how much harm each of us do to this planet. It shows how to help save the planet a bit. Like carpooling, take a bus, walk, etc. Its good to turn off your heater when your not using it. If we all do this more often are kids will be able to see the world as we see it today. My calculator was saying that i use i use the car to much and should carpool. www.footprintnetwork.org/en/index.php/GFN/page/calculators
